History:
It is believed this cat came to America on the Mayflower where they were believed to be kept as pets. Although no distinct pedigrees had been formed this early in time; towards the 20th century the American shorthair became common in a household, and became the first registered breed in the USA.

Physical Traits:

*Medium to Large cat
*Robust breed
*These cats come in many colors and patterns
*Health: This breed is healthy, but regular check ups are still good; they are known for their longevity health. But they do run the risk of becoming obese, so monitor the amount of food they consume.

What does it take to have one?

*These cats have a quiet loving disposition
*Grooming: They have short thick fur so a brush through every week would help keep their fur silky smooth; but it’s not mandatory.

*Their price is from $350 - $1,300
